Chartering Local Scout Groups of All Ages

Memorial Exchange Club Charities, Inc. of Houston, a 501(c)3 charity operated by the Club, announced in December 2022 it has agreed to become the charter organization for Troop 599 of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), located at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (MDUMC).

“We are delighted to take this step toward greater engagement in youth services for our community by chartering a major BSA Scout Troop in the Memorial Area,” Susan Schwartz said. Susan is president-elect for the Club and will serve as the Charter Organization Representative to the Troop.

Troop 599 is one of the largest Scout Troops in the Greater Houston Area and has been operating continuously at MDUMC since 1969. The Troop will continue to meet in the Scout Lodge at MDUMC with the full cooperation and support of Dr. Brad Morgan, senior pastor, and his staff, including Mark Bogart, director of youth ministry.

“Troop 599 is grateful for the great support we have received from MDUMC over the past 54 years and we are glad to continue collaborating with the Church on service to youth here in the Memorial Area,” Troop 599 Committee Chair Walter Brookhart said.
